Roll-on to 2015 and the spiritual sequel (perhaps redux), Rocket League arrives, and to say its a step in the right direction is perhaps Psyonix, the developer of Rocket League had previously delivered Supersonic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars on the PS3. It was exactly the same concept as Rocket League, but the delivery ultimately and sadly could never match the ingenuity of the concept. If I had to find a complaint it would be that the AI players who sometimes get slotted in are overpowered and dont make many mistakes. It's accessible, has steady graphics, no lag, and the matchmaking is phenomenal most of the time. This is one of those games that will spread like wildfire because it's pure fun. On the first face-off of my first game I scored a goal and was hooked.

Day one release on PlayStation Plus for free is a wonderful bonus and a very loyal move from Psyonix to their fans. Future support for the game confirmed, including DLC and free stadiums. Replay editor which also acts as a photo mode is a very welcome feature. Various ways to play with friends including up to 4 player split screen. Literally millions of different combinations. Physics and gameplay are perfect and the game plays just how it should.
(And more!) The visuals are colourful, over the top and impressive.
Psyonix have put so much effort into creating this car football sequel and have delivered exactly what fans from the community have asked for.
